From there you can push files of any type across, or paste a quick message instead. Transfers run over encrypted WebRTC; when a direct peer-to-peer link is not possible, the encrypted data may pass through a relay without being stored.

Pairing
One code, two devices
Tap Create Code and Beam shows a six-character code with a countdown beside it. Read it out or send it over, and the moment the other device enters it the two are connected. The code expires by itself, so there is nothing to revoke and nothing left open.
Sending
Files or text, both a tap away
Once the devices are paired, Send Files opens the picker, and a text box sits right below it for anything you would rather paste than attach. Save Connection keeps the pair on file, so the next transfer skips the code entirely.

The same Beam, with nothing to install
Beam also runs as a web app at beam.novotechx.com, with the same codes and the same transfers as the Android app. It works in any modern browser on any device, so a laptop, desktop or tablet can join a transfer without installing anything. Phone to laptop behaves exactly like phone to phone.
